This was a low-key amazing exchange: When it was sort of casually suggested to him that coaching the Dallas Cowboys is a “coveted” thing, one of the team’s bona fide all-time stars, a Hall of Famer and three-time Super Bowl champion who spent his entire career with the one franchise, just outright questioned the validity of the statement.
This happened on ESPN, just before the Monday Night Football game. The star in question was Troy Aikman. His interviewer, Scott Van Pelt, who’s very good and very astute, was really asking Troy about other, more general things related to the Cowboys’ search for a new coach.
