This is great. Too many of these hit home; thanks for posting. I'll add mine: skipped out of work to rent a riding mower in order to cut various playing fields grass because the city maintenance crew failed to show up that week. Also, skipped work to rent a large auger to drill holes all over a hardened dirt infield - to loosen it up - so the kids could have a good playing experience. And, I will forever bear the hate from my wife for volunteering her in running the concession stand (aka "Wiennie Hut") one season. (She still bitches about it 18 years later, but I know, deep down, she kinda enjoyed it.)

Outstanding. Been there, been there, been there. I have all the baseball scorebooks. Only thing I would add - If you spent summer vacations touring around AAU basketball tournaments while other families went to the beach.

Well said, MJK! Ironically, I stumbled upon a bunch of old scorebooks (softball and baseball) just last week. Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father’s Day, Mark…thanks for that trip down memory lane (it’s why we love The Dope)…now as a grandfather of six, I get to see it happen all over again (from the sideline/bleachers, looking in🤩)…and with any luck, at all (if I’ve done my math correctly…and I like to think that I have)…there’ll be a decent shot at me seeing this remarkable iteration a 3rd time, as a great-grandfather (fingers crossed🤞🏼).

If you ever got an earful from a parent who complained his kid didn’t play as much as your kid 🙄
