Thank you for reading The Dope.
Aaron Rodgers is the film negative of everything the Pittsburgh Steelers do and everything they are. I don’t think I’m overstating that, but if I am, it’s still pretty close to the truth. This development, Rodgers to the Steelers, is one of the more interesting slam dances I’ve seen in the NFL in a while, and I’m not even completely sure who it is doing the slamming.
Word leaked Thursday that Rodgers would fly to Pittsburgh today, sign a one-year contract and be on hand for the Steelers’ mini-camp when it begins next week. The 41-year-old Rodgers thus finds a football home about 80 days after the start of free agency, although for several weeks you couldn’t tell whether the four-time MVP cared about playing another season at all.
And Pittsburgh thus finds — what do the Steelers find, exactly?
