As a long-time Cowboy fan - back to the days in the Cotton Bowl - and Dallas resident, all you described has been discussed relentlessly since, well, 1995 in the media here. The Cowboys are a joke in the NFL right now but even worse, yesterday they reached an even new low for them. In showing Cowboy players and coaches on that big screen who actually served in the military, the first image was Tom Landry. Unfortunately, his name on the screen appeared as "Tom Laundry." I kid you not. The most iconic figure in Cowboy history and they actually botched his name. I am not sure where you go to actually turn in your Cowboy fan membership card, but the line to do so is long today.
Insightful writing. Jerry Jones is a rich good ole boy of the Sixties, wiles and no charm. Is he the guy that beat the rap for assaulting the woman giving him a massage? ( Serious question. I could have remembered the wrong good ole boy). Mostly Jones reminds me of billionaires that just happen to be evangelists.
All hat, no cattle this guy!

Mike, that's unbelievable about Tom Landry. That's honestly sad.

Insightful piece, Mark. Most of NFL fandom struggles to describe the Dallas malady (it’s like it feels like the flu, but could it be COVID🤔💭⁉️).
If it wasn’t so tragic it’d be funny…(well, it’s kinda comical—in a megalomania sort of way).
